When he wasn't roped to Sherpas at 20,000 feet, jet-boating up the Ganges or flying ski planes to the North Pole (with Neil Armstrong), Sir Edmund Percival Hillary and his beloved Louise loved wandering the countryside near their home in Remuera on New Zealand's north island.
